How does HublerX calculate the recommended safety stock?

HublerX uses the service level formula: safety stock = Z × √(average lead time × demand variance + average demand² × lead time variance). Z is the service level factor for the configured target (e.g. 2.33 for 99%, 1.65 for 95%). Demand variance and lead time variance are calculated from actual ERP and GRN data over a configured rolling period.

Can different service level targets be set for different material categories?

Yes. Service level targets are configured by material criticality category — critical production materials at 99%, standard materials at 95%, non-critical packaging at 90%. Materials are categorised in HublerX by the planning team and the service level applied automatically in the calculation.

How much historical data does HublerX need to produce a reliable recommendation?

HublerX uses a configurable rolling window — typically 90 days for stable demand patterns and 180 days for seasonal materials. Where a material has less than the minimum data period, HublerX flags the recommendation as provisional and uses industry benchmarks to supplement the calculation.

Can the planner override a recommendation without accepting it?

Yes. Where a recommendation conflicts with a known business context — an upcoming seasonal demand spike, a supplier transition, a new product launch — the planner can override the recommendation with a note explaining the reason. The override is recorded with the planner's name and the reason, and the recommendation is re-evaluated at the next weekly cycle.
